How do I use your information?
If you are a job-hunter with experience:
If you have experience in a particular field, you should contact recruiters in your field, not recruiters in your location. Most recruiters who specialize in an industry or position work nationally, not just locally. So for example, if you are looking for a job in biotechnology, you want to contact recruiters who specialize in biotechnology industries regardless of location. The recruiter in New York may have a client in Florida who has a job that meets your qualification.
If you are an executive with experience in a particular industry, in addition to recruiters, you should contact venture capital and private equity firms in your field. These firms are investing in and re-organizing companies in your industry and could have the position you seek in one of their portfolio companies.
If you are just starting out:
If you are just beginning your career or have less specialized experience, contacting recruiters in your location is a good way to start. You should focus on those recruiters who work in industries or with position specialties that interest you or that match your education and/or training.
